CCI ILEC 2017 Bargaining: Report 1

Bargaining between the Union Committee and the Company began today, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Gibsonia, PA. Today's talks included opening statements and goals for this round of bargaining by both teams. While the company statement talked about good faith and respect, the first proposal passed to the Union team was an attempt to censor our voices in the workplace. It is clear to the Union team that this kind of double talk at the very first meeting will create a challenging round of negotiations.

Other topics introduced and discussed today included a desire to create a better balance of life between work and home, vacations and vacation carry over allowances, physical standards testing, bidding and transfer language, contract labor notification, Step 1 grievance process, lay-off language, job classifications, and apparel allowance.

Talks will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23, 2017. There is much to discuss and many proposals that haven't been introduced yet. Today was just the first step in the fight to bargain for you, the Membership. Your Bargaining Team is committed to take nothing less than a fair contract for our Members. Stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available and contact your Branch Rep or Steward to learn of upcoming Mobilizations.
