CWA-PIW Bargaining Sept-Oct 2019

The CWA Local 2336 Bargaining Committee reports:

Good Afternoon Sister’s and Brother’s:

Negotiations continued on Monday, September 30, 2019 and Tuesday, October 1, 2019. During these 2-day sessions the parties reached another tentative agreement. Nursing staff should be aware that PIW is proposing changing your shifts from 12-hour shifts to 8-hour shifts. For the entire PIW bargaining unit, PIW is proposing changes to attendance processes.

The Union stewards and officers will be soliciting questions to hear input from you regarding some of these proposals. Please don’t hesitate to provide them with information. We are negotiating a fair contract to address as many as your needs as possible but we need to know what those needs are as proposals come up. We are rounding the corner on contract language proposals and will be discussing economics within the coming months. Your show of support is crucial.

Be wary of management or others trying to convince you that being in the Union is not needed. Your voice and the voices of those before you contributed to a contract that has been extended until January 2020 that sets the standards for your working conditions, benefits and wages. Corporations don’t just give you these items out of the kindness of their hearts. We have seen PIW put profits before patients. We are set to meet again in November.

LET’S STAND TOGETHER.
