As Contract Expiration Nears, CWA Calls on AT&T to Bargain Constructively

Washington, D.C. -- With just hours until the midnight April 11 expiration of two AT&T contracts, members of the Communications Workers of America and their bargaining teams are calling on management to bargain constructively on the key issues.

After six week of negotiations, the CWA bargaining teams report that AT&T Midwest and Legacy T management is focused solely on demands for concessions in health care, retirement and employment security. Last week, CWA members at both AT&T Midwest and Legacy T voted overwhelmingly to authorize union leaders to call a strike if a fair contract can’t be reached. Today, the CWA Executive Board has approved that action.

Working and middle class families have been losing economic ground for decades.

There’s still time to turn this around and we’re hopeful that we will see some constructive negotiations in the remaining hours before expiration.
