CWA-PIW Bargaining: February 2019 Report

The CWA Local 2336 Bargaining Team met with the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, DC this week and reports:

CWA and PIW met Thursday, February 21st.  On Wednesday, February 20th  the lead negotiators discussed some of the remaining proposals.   Your bargaining team spent a considerable amount of time diving into the employee lists provided to the Union.  This report provides rates of pay; job titles; fulltime, part-time or PRN status.  We are trying to nail down the titles and functions and pay rates.  Today we have worked on qualifications and classifications of 27 job titles. This is what will set-up our discussion for wage scales when we get to economics.

CWA and PIW had discussions on speeding up the process of negotiations so that the members can look forward to a new and improved contract. We are just as frustrated about the length of time we have spent in bargaining but know CWA is at the table fighting for you.  Stay strong brothers and sisters.

Now more than ever we need members to unite and stand up for yourself, your co-worker and your patients.  Highlight the understaffing issues; being placed in a role you are not qualified to perform and the mixing of youth in age groups that should be prevented.   Minimizing the important role you play at PIW to deliver quality patient care coupled with the disrespect you endure has got to stop.  And you can help us stop it.

In the coming weeks CWA Local 2336 will be meeting members before and after your shifts to recognize the hard work you do to make PIW run.  We will be passing out flyers and CWA tokens for the members to wear at work .

Remember we are stronger together.  They can only do it if you let them.

We need you to “Stand Up & Support Your Union Brother and Sister”
