Verizon Bargaining 2011: Report # 35

The Regional Bargaining Committee met today and made preparations for next week’s agenda in order to expedite discussions on the Union’s Jobs issue. The committee also spent time reviewing an open proposal addressing the Tuition Assistance Program and Joint Committees. The committee agreed to hold further discussion on this proposal until we reconvene next week.

The Mid-Atlantic committee also met with the New York/New England committee today. Both committees recognize we are fighting the same greedy corporation. We were able to share our thoughts and concerns over common issues. Both committees agreed this type of meeting is beneficial and committed to continuing meeting jointly over common interests throughout the bargaining process.

Members across the footprint must remember that the reason we are back together in bargaining is due to their unprecedented mobilization efforts. Your bargaining committee is appreciative of all your hard work, but it must not stop here. Continue the workplace activities, continue to remind supervision that it is each and everyone of you who dictate the tempo as bargaining continues to move forward. This fight is definitely not over.

Special thanks to CWA Local 2222 for the Red T-Shirts sent to the bargaining team in New York.
