Verizon Bargaining 2011: Report Dated 08/11/2011
There were no formal bargaining discussions today. The respective bargaining chairs spoke informally several times throughout the day in an effort to break through on the company’s continuing attempts to bring forward retrogressive demands. The Company’s idea of bargaining seems to be that if we accept some of their retrogressive proposals then they will remove others from the table. We have told the company we are not here to bargain with ourselves. This is classic union busting at its best. The Company believes we should be happy if they are only taking half of what we have and not all of it.
This company needs to get serious about bargaining a fair agreement. Our members deserve a fair contract from a company that is making billions in profits from our labor.
Whether wired or wireless, none of this network works without us. Our members need to send them the message that we are the network and if we go, we’re taking our network with us!
