Bargaining Report #49: Frontier Communications
The Union and the Company met today. The Company made counter proposals on the issues of Emergency Call-Outs, Carry Over Vacation, and the Sales and Referral Incentive Programs. The Union advised the Company that its proposal on Emergency Call-Outs does nothing to address the Union’s concerns on safety, training, and equipment. Part of bargaining is to identify and resolve workplace issues. Changes to existing contract language needs to address both the Company’s and the Union’s concerns. The Union will be responding to the Company’s counter proposals. Since bargaining began, Frontier’s agenda has been to have our members sacrifice their benefits and wages. They have made proposals to change differential, wages, work week hours, healthcare, and 401k match that would decrease our standard of living. In addition to the givebacks, they arrogantly push forward on their agenda, ignoring the Union’s issues. The Bargaining Committee remains committed to negotiating a contract that maintains our members’ standards of living. Each member must be prepared to do whatever it takes to get a fair contract. This fight will require each member to be vigilant in seeing this through to the end. Contact your Mobilizers to find out what you can do to help win this fight.
