Anthem Security Breach Update
Verizon released the following info about the Anthem breach.
Anthem has alerted Verizon that starting Feb. 18 it expects to begin sending email notifications to some of its members. Anthem advises it is taking this action in accordance with legal requirements to notify members about the data breach.
Because of the sensitivity about emails and phishing scams, we are notifying Verizon employees in advance about these emails, which Anthem says it will distribute over the next several days. According to Anthem, the emails will be sent to members who provided an email address for contact purposes through the secure member portal. (NOTE: Verizon does not provide email addresses to Anthem.)
Anthem advises that the email will be branded Anthem Inc. and will contain the exact information that members will receive via the US Postal Service. Also, a copy of the email will be posted online at www.AnthemFacts.com. We are in daily contact with Anthem and will keep you updated as new information is made available. The best way for you to get your specific questions answered about the data breach is through the Anthem dedicated website listed above or toll-free at 1-877-263-7995. Thank you.
