American Airlines: January 2015 Bargaining Update
Your CWA/IBT Association Negotiating Committee met this month in Dallas, during the period of January 13, 14 and 15.
On Tuesday, January 13th, we began the session by receiving counter proposals from the Company for Article 17-Leaves of Absence, Article 21-Limited Duty, Article 23-Uniforms, Article 30-Safety and Health, and Article 32-Call Monitoring. The Union passed the Company proposals for Article 19-Holidays and Article 18-Sick Leave. The Company passed a response to the Union’s proposal on an Interim Agreement that would give the American employees an interim grievance procedure and allow furloughed or displaced employees of both airlines an opportunity to work for the other carrier before hiring off the street. The Committee worked to put together counter proposals for the following day.
On Wednesday, January 14th, we met with the Company and gave them a counter proposal for Article 32-Call Monitoring. The committee returned in the afternoon and gave the company a proposal on Article 30-Safety and Health. The Company passed a response to our proposal on Article 32-Call Monitoring. The Union passed the Company a counter proposal for Article 30-Safety and Health. We ended the day by reaching a Tentative Agreement on Article 30- Safety and Health and Article 32-Call Monitoring.
On Thursday, January 15th, we met with the Company and gave them our counter proposal on Article 21-Limited Duty and Article 23-Uniforms. The company came back in the afternoon and agreed to our proposal on Article 21-Limited Duty and reached a Tentative Agreement. We ended the session working on proposals for the next meeting.
Our next scheduled bargaining session is in Dallas on January 20, 21 and 22.
