Verizon Local 13000 Bargaining Report # 10
Local Bargaining resumed today with the Company. The Union bargaining team began the meeting by reading another Bio of one of our laid off members who should still be on the payroll today. The Union then passed across several information requests regarding the volume of Bargaining Unit work our members perform annually and the data associated with it. The Union then passed across a demand to reinstate all of our laid off members to the payroll. Discussions were held on several outstanding information requests still not received from the Company. The Company then rejected several of the Union proposals on the table aimed at enhancing the conditions at work for our membership. While the Company continued to try to speak on several proposals the Union had already rejected surrounding the additional use of contractors and those proposals that would destroy the title integrity and seniority recognition of our collective bargaining agreement, the Union made itself crystal clear that we reject those proposals and were interested in discussing proposals that include the reduction of contractors and the enhancement of job security for our membership. The Company’s answer consistently has been they are not interested in expanding their costs, expanding their burdensome administrative obligations, and need more flexibility to service our customers. Which equates to they are only interested in their one sided, greed ridden agenda being placed on the backs of our members. Members need make the message clear to management in the workplace that IT IS OUR TURN! Step up mobilization activities.
Stand Strong! Stay United! Get on a bus to NY this Saturday! Send Verizon the message that we will do whatever it takes for a fair contract!
