American Airlines Update: Tentative Agreement Ratification Process
[This post has been revised, 10-7-15.]
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Thank you all for your support and patience as we work to ensure that every passenger service employee at American Airlines has access to the information they need to make an informed decision about how to vote on the new tentative agreement. We want to make sure all members get accurate information in a timely way and have every opportunity to vote. We are still firming up the ratification process and we will continue to update you as we confirm details. Some of the dates below are tentative, but we wanted to give you some sense of the planning so far.
Voting Eligibility
Only members in good standing may vote on the agreement. To be a member in good standing, LUS members must be current on their union dues and LAA employees must have completed a membership form by the deadline. We are extending the deadline to submit a membership form to Friday, October 9, at 5pm (eastern). You can get a membership form from your local union or print the form located here. Please complete the form and return it to a local union officer, scan and email it to info@American-Agents.com, or mail it to the address at the bottom of the form. It must be postmarked, emailed, or hand delivered by Friday, October 9.
Tentative Agreement Explanation Meetings and Video
We are organizing a series of informational meetings at hubs and reservations offices starting in late October and continuing through about November 2. In addition, we will produce an explanatory video that we’ll post at our website by October 19.
Members will be able to review the full tentative agreement at our website by October 19.
We are also creating a list of Frequently Asked Questions that we will post at our website this week.
Voting Process
Members will receive a packet of materials from a company called BallotPoint in late October. It will include a summary of the tentative agreement, voting instructions, and a PIN to allow members to vote online.
Online voting will continue through about November 10 and results will be announced within one or two days after voting concludes.
A lot of misinformation about the Tentative Agreement is circulating on the Internet. We urge you all to remain patient and reserve judgement until you either attend an explanatory meeting or view the video. We will continue to share as much information as possible in preparation for the ratification vote. You can find updates on our website at American-Agents.org and follow us on Facebook at American Agents Connected.
In solidarity,
Ron Collins
