American Airlines: April 3 Bargaining Update
Your CWA/IBT Association Bargaining Committee met in Dallas on March 31st, April 1st and April 2nd. You’ll find details of each session below.
On Tuesday, March 31st the Union and the Company signed a tentative agreement on Article 13, Voluntary Furloughs and Article 15, Furloughs. The Union passed Article 12, Reductions in Force to the Company. The Company passed Article 5, Hours of Service to the Association. Part of the day was spent talking to the Company about the overtime situation that occurred over the weekend in reservations and the hundreds of grievances that were filed from Reservations and the Airports.
On Wednesday, April 1st the Company passed the Association a counter proposal on Article 12, Reductions in Force. The Company and the Union reached a tentative agreement on Article 12. The Association reached an agreement on the confidentiality agreement that will allow us to get the additional information we requested on profit sharing.
On Thursday, April 2nd we met with the Company to ask questions regarding Article 5, Hours of Service so that we could understand the proposal made by the Company. This is a very complex and important Article so we will take our time to get the best agreement we can.
Bargaining is now heating up over important articles. It’s important that members get involved in mobilization to show the Company we’re interested in a good contract.
Our next scheduled bargaining session is in Dallas the week of April 6th.
