Bargaining Report #33: Frontier Communications

The Union and the Company met today.

The Company provided proposals addressing Call Outs and Contractors. The Union proposed the creation of a Joint Union/Company Committee on Competition.

Frontier has repeatedly stated its proposals are critical and are presented for consistency, to save costs, and simply because no one else has our level of benefits. Frontier claims the Union’s proposals to provide our members with Job Security, Wages, Compensation, and Affordable Health Care are 1970’s expectations. Frontier believes the Union and its Members need to “get real.” Frontier’s interpretation of getting real is to submit proposals that will increase contracting, decrease wages, decrease benefits, and increase our work week.

Frontier needs to “get real.” Frontier is not a company on the verge of bankruptcy. After purchasing the West Virginia property, they have consistently made significant profits. West Virginia is key and pivotal to Frontier’s success. Your Union believes everyone, not just the Executives of Frontier, should share in that success. With less than thirty days until the contract extension deadline, we remain far apart.

The Bargaining Committee wants to commend Locals and their Members across the state for their mobilization activities. Yesterday’s mobilization activity “It’s Time For Frontier to Bargain A Fair Contract” was a great success. Keep up the good work!
