Breezeline 2023: Bargaining Report 2

The CWA Local 13000 Breezeline (formerly Atlantic Broadband) Bargaining Team reported:

The Union and company met for several sessions the last two days, February 21 and 22, 2023, in an effort to reach agreement on a fair contract that addresses the needs of you the Membership. We spent our time and energy both fighting for every gain we could achieve and also holding off company attacks on your bargained for rights. At the end of bargaining today we have reached tentative agreement on a new 4 year contract. Through the information we compiled from your survey responses and feedback prior to bargaining we were able to come to agreement on a number of issues that will improve the contract. In reaching the TA we achieved the following:

STOPPED company proposals attacking the following:

  • Elimination of the Cable Service provisions (Company withdrew)
  • CCR vacation allowances (Withdrawn)
  • Changes to vacation selection processes (Withdrawn)
  • Unreasonable notification times for Floating Holidays (Withdrawn)
  • Elimination of Job Classification language for CCRs (Withdrawn)

GAINED the following:

  • Compound pay increase of 13.10% over the term of the contract
  • Annual wage increases of 3% on March 1, 2023, 3% on March 1, 2024, 3.5% on March 1, 2025 and 3% on March 1, 2026
  • Unification of terms in CBA which will make the contract easier to interpret and enforce
  • Clarified definition of ‘Days’ to be calendar days not work days and vacation week language
  • Improved differential for working up in title
  • Changes to meal break language
  • Improved Standby Allowance
  • Changes to after shift hours call out procedure
  • Additional Floating Holiday
  • Improved vacation allowances
  • Improved Tool and Uniform Allowance and notice of deadline for receipts
  • Improved Education Reimbursement for new hires

A comprehensive report detailing each of the points listed above will be available for review and discussion when we come together at 5:30 PM on February 24, 2023 to have a contract explanation, answer your questions and vote to ratify this agreement.

The ratification meeting and vote will take place at:
