CWA/DE State Civilian Bargaining Report #2
CWA met with the State on May 2, 2016. At this meeting the State introduced several modifications to the contracts; mostly housekeeping items. However, they proposed a change in the the Maternity/Paternity Leave provisions in Section 24 that the Union is looking at closely to determine if the offered language diminishes any existing benefits currently enjoyed, and as expected they proposed the introduction of a formal Attendance Policy mirrored after the policy in the 911 Call Centers.
The State reiterated its claim that the state of Delaware is still feeling the effects of the financial downturn and is not in a postion to grant the wage and service recognition increases requested by the Union. The Union responded by asking the State to make a counter offer in order to advance the discussion to a mutually satisfactory alternative.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 24th.
