CWA/ZeniMax QA Effects Bargaining Update: July 29

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the CWA Bargaining Committee reported:
Hello all,
Today Bargaining Committee members from BGS, CS/UR, CTO, id, and ZOS met with the representatives of Microsoft in a Core Bargaining session to further discuss the effects of these illegal layoffs. The Union prepared and presented a counter responding to a proposal they had passed to us earlier in the week. The company stated they were “disappointed” by our offer since the “gap” in the terms we were trying to get for all impacted members was wider than what the company is willing to do for those laid off.
We are continuing to negotiate to get members reinstated to full-time status. The employer is only interested in something that would not extend long term. We continue to feel the effects of the chaos and demands of high work loads on the remaining workforce. We know workers are needed to complete not only short term company priorities but ongoing work; it was the decisions of Microsoft that created this situation.
company spent 2/3rds of the bargaining session in caucus only to come back ten minutes before the end of the session with an offer that did not reflect the level of benefits members should receive, leaving us no time to counter.
The next meeting with company representatives is on August 6th.
There are a few ways you can help support the efforts of the bargaining committee:
1). Should a member of management reach out to you to demand you return to work, please contact your Union representatives immediately!
2). If you are given new assignments or functions you were not performing prior to the layoff, let a bargaining committee know. Or if work is being shifted from someone who was laid off is being added to your workload-let us know.
3). If you come across contractor job listings (particularly for companies that are known to work for ZMI) that have job descriptions that sound VERY SIMILAR to jobs that our members do or used to do, please contact your Union representatives immediately!
Save the date: ZMI All Members Townhall
August 6th at 9 PM EST / 8 PM CST
