December 2023 Bargaining Round Up
American Airlines – Passenger Service Agents
The CWA-IBT Association Bargaining Committee announced a tentative agreement with American Airlines this month:
Initial costing shows that the five-year contract is valued at $1.3 billion dollars. The agreement could not have been reached without the support of local union leaders, mobilization team members, and every member who supported mobilization efforts and informational picketing over the past several months. Those actions made a huge difference at the bargaining table and demonstrated the power of the union.
After the Bargaining Committee shared the tentative agreement’s highlights, they held Zoom sessions to share the details of the agreement with the bargaining unit.

AVAYA
On December 17, the Bargaining Committee reported that Avaya bypassed further negotiations:
Avaya took the drastic step of unilaterally implementing the terms of its last, best and final offer without obtaining agreement from the Communications Workers of America (CWA). Despite our efforts to engage in good-faith negotiations, Avaya has attempted to push the parties to an impasse.

Comcast Alle Kiske
The CWA Local 13000 Bargaining Committee met with Comcast over the Alle Kiske contract this month. The Company continues to resist meeting the Union's demand for fair compensation for the bargaining unit. Negotiations resume in the new year. Check out the full report here.

ZeniMax
As the ZeniMax Workers United-CWA Bargaining Committee negotiates the first-ever union contract for the Microsoft subsidiary, a tentative agreement was reached over Artificial Intelligence in the workplace:
The agreement commits ZeniMax to uses of AI that augment human ingenuity and capacities, to ensure that these tools enhance worker productivity, growth, and satisfaction without causing workers harm. Zenimax has agreed to provide notice to the union in cases where AI implementation may impact the work of union members and to bargain those impacts upon request. It establishes as guiding principles that AI implementations at work must be:
- Fair
- Reliable and Safe
- Private and Secure
- Inclusive
- Transparent, and
- Accountable
