Frontier WV/VA Strike Report 5

The Union and Company Bargaining Committees met today.  The Union responded to the Company’s clarified settlement package provided yesterday.  The Union again rejected the Company’s benefits proposal because it retrogressively proposed changes to the prescription plan that appear to be worse than its February 28th proposal. Once again, the Union rejected the proposed closing of the Ashburn NOC and again rejected the Company’s proposal to increase the limitation on the transfer of jobs from the long standing 0.7% of the bargaining unit to 25 jobs per year.  The Union maintained our position on Job Security, which calls for protection to be extended to all members.  The Union counter proposed the addition of 200 Sales and Service Call Centers jobs be regular full-time jobs in currently established job titles.

The framework for an agreement is there.  The Company needs to commit to our major issues, which they are aware of, to get us to an agreement.

The efforts of every striker is making Frontier feel the pressure.  The reports from the flying squadrons are that the SCABS are not getting any work completed.  We need every available member focusing on mobile picketing.  Contact your Local to sign up!

The registration information has been sent for the Union Hall Call scheduled Thursday, March 22 at 8:00 PM.  Sign up today.  A Rally is scheduled for Saturday, March 24 1:00PM – 4:00PM in front of Frontier’s West Virginia headquarters at 1500 MacCorkle Avenue, Charleston, WV.  CWA National President Chris Shelton, District 2-13 Vice President Ed Mooney, United Mine Workers of America President Cecil Roberts, West Virginia Senator and 3rd Congressional District Candidate Retired Major Richard Ojeda II, and several other CWA Supporters are scheduled to speak.
