Press Release: AT&T Mobility Workers Vote to Authorize Strike

WASHINGTON, D.C -- AT&T Mobility Orange workers, represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), today have overwhelmingly voted to give CWA President Claude Cummings the authority to call a strike if negotiations between CWA and the telecom company fail to reach a fair agreement.
The strike authorization vote comes as CWA's contract with AT&T, covering approximately 9,000 Orange Mobility workers, is set to expire at midnight ET on Friday, March 20, 2026.
While AT&T spends millions of dollars on a new headquarters office and corporate sponsorships like the NCAA March Madness tournament, the company is rejecting proposals at the bargaining table almost as quickly as they are proposed. In response, workers across the country are holding the company accountable for its broken promises on a wide range of issues that directly impact workers every day; from job security, work life balance, wages that meet the real cost of living, benefits that do not bankrupt, and protections on the job.
“Mobility workers are on the frontlines for a multibillion dollar corporation, working on the sales floor, in homes, and out in the field to connect customers to the rest of the world,” said District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor. “The results of the strike authorization vote send a clear message to AT&T Mobility management: our members know the value of their labor and are united, informed and prepared to reject corporate greed and do what it takes to win the strong contract they deserve.”
The current union contract for CWA members at AT&T Orange Mobility – formerly Cingular – covers workers in customer service, telesales, retail, technical support and other positions across 37 states. AT&T workers and union members will continue to work with their current contract in place, as CWA continues negotiations with AT&T.
