SuperMedia Bargaining 2012: Report Dated January 31, 2012
At today’s bargaining meeting the Union presented its proposals on:
1. Combining all PA Sales Office under one contract (today we have separate contracts for each work site);
2. Providing that bargaining unit employees continue to be covered by a collective bargaining agreement in the event of a sale or transfer of SuperMedia;
3. Insuring that employees who accept the responsibility of becoming Union Stewards are not harmed regarding their performance rating or sales ranking;
4. Providing pay treatment for those employees who attend Union/Company conferences, including participation in contract negotiations;
5. Reducing the number of months necessary to be on the payroll in a Sales title before being entitled to challenge disciplinary action before a neutral third party.
The Company provided to the Union several documents and additional information requested by the Union in order to advance further proposals, as well as respond to SuperMedia’s earlier proposals.
The Company also presented the Union with several proposal today, identifying most as “housekeeping” items, meaning updates to out dated contract language or changes related to events that took place during the life of the current contract, such as the name of the company.
The bargaining teams will meet again tomorrow and again on Thursday of this week. The Union hopes to complete its presentation of all remaining agenda items by Thursday.
