Verizon Bargaining 2011: Report # 21

Negotiations at the Common Issues table have ground to a halt at this time. The company bargaining team came to the table this evening and the Union presented more detail on our Jobs proposal. The company responded with the same old tune about how their costs are too high in a declining landline business. The Union committee once again pointed out that it is in our best interests to see this company succeed, but we must be able to share in that success. The talks have recessed for now, subject to call from either party.

With four hours to go, it’s becoming clear this company is not taking us seriously. The clock is ticking. At midnight, this company will find out just how serious we really are. There is a conference for Local Presidents at 11:00pm this evening. Stay tuned.
