Verizon Bargaining 2011: Report # 25
The Unions met briefly with Verizon today to formally reject the Company’s proposal that we had received off-table on Thursday afternoon. We made a package counterproposal in hopes of getting the process moving and have waited the rest of the day for a response.
At this point, the Company continues its efforts to slow the process. CWA and the IBEW have each urged the NLRB to immediately order Verizon management to drop its refusal to bargain and negotiate in good faith as the law requires. Verizon continues to put out false information to our members and the public. If they put that energy into working towards an agreement, we would make significant progress.
We are hearing many reports of CEO Lowell McAdam visiting with our striking members on the picket line. Our members need to tell Mr. McAdam that he needs to be here talking to the bargaining committee elected to represent them in these negotiations. Perhaps then we can iron out the issues and reach an agreement.
