CWA-PIW Bargaining Report 20
Hello Brothers and Sisters of PIW - for Thursday March 8, 2018, CWA and PIW met to continue bargaining. We were unable to meet yesterday, March 7, 2018, due to the death of a close relative of the PIW lawyer. CWA and PIW started discussions talking about employees work schedule issues. The Committee has seen a rise in new hires being included on schedules when their orientation has not been completed and members being slotted on shifts when they are not at work or on vacation. The Union raised the issue of new hires not being assigned 40-hours per week as fulltime employees. That is current language in the existing contract and no one should see less than 40 as fulltime employees.
Your Union committee addressed other housekeeping concerns regarding available resources, such as tables for patients to use and how PIW is administering discipline.
The Union presented several proposals regarding union representation; solicitation; arbitration and discussion over the grievance procedure.
Today was a positive session between CWA and PIW as progress is being made in the remaining contract language proposals. We still have more bargaining to hammer out. CWA and PIW will meet again Monday, March 19th and Tuesday, March 20th, 2018.
Members stay positive while CWA fights to get you a fair contract with benefits and wages that will allow you to continue having a life outside of PIW.
The CWA Bargaining Committee will not stop bargaining until we get a fair contract. Stay strong Brothers and Sisters.
