Bargaining Report #7: Frontier Communications
The Union and the Company met today. The Union presented two proposals to modify language of Article 23 - Transfer and Reassignment and Article 33 - Excused Time. The Union requested that the Company provide us information on the amount of contractors, telling them our members have great concerns with contractors doing their work. While the Company has proposed more contracting, the Union has proposed to eliminate all contracting. The Bargaining Committee has repeatedly advised the Company our members’ goal for this bargaining is to bring work into the bargaining unit thus providing job security.
The parties have recessed and are scheduled to reconvene on July 15, 2013.
During the recess the Bargaining Committee will continue reviewing the Company’s proposals on benefits. These proposals would shift significant cost to our members. The Company wants all employees to have “skin in the game” claiming it makes them better consumers of health care. Monthly contributions would range between $180.48 and $360.96 for a family during the next three years. The Union will respond to these proposals after the recess.
Now is the time to get engaged with your local. Everyone needs to understand this round of bargaining will not be won at the bargaining table. Tell the Company we do not need contractors doing our work.
The Bargaining Committee wants to thank all members for their support.
SOLIDARITY FOREVER!
