CWA District 2-13 Organizing Victory!

On this day October 26th, 2016,   Senior Social Workers with the Delaware Department of Health & Social Services/ Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities have cast ballots to seek representation with CWA Local 13101 in Delaware.  The vote is in and 92 percent say UNION YES!

This campaign took almost a year to reach a vote.  The election process was done by secret ballot and ballots were mailed out to employees home addresses.  Within the week ballots were mailed out, Scott Perlot, organizer for Local 13101, visited several work locations throughout the State of Delaware to answer any questions/concerns about our union and the organizing process.

At one point in the campaign,  Labor Relations with the State of Delaware, had filed an objection citing there was "No Community of Interest" amongst these workers and a hearing was scheduled.   Just days before the scheduled hearing, the State of Delaware cancelled the meeting.  We can now help these workers bargain for a good contract, improving their benefits, working conditions and have a voice in the workplace.

Another hard fought victory for organized labor and the Communications Workers of America!
