CWA-PIW Bargaining Report: August 2017

The Union and PIW met yesterday August 2nd and today August 3rd, 2017. The Union reviewed with the Company, all outstanding information that was requested in past sessions. This included the frequency of “code lavenders” called within the last year and a half and the OSHA log reporting work related injuries. The Union also discussed at length the status of PRN employees.

There were a number of proposals and counter proposals presented by each side. The Company submitted a proposal on “Attendance”, and CWA submitted a counter proposal on “Seniority, Layoffs & Recalls”.

In the afternoon, CWA submitted a counter proposal on “Discipline” which resulted in spirited dialogue with the Company. The Union also submitted counter proposals on “Recognition, Definition, & Classifications” and “Seniority”.

PIW was bought by UHS over a year and half ago and while UHS made no immediate changes, they are using this round of negotiations to gut the existing contract and replace it with language that will be detrimental to our members. CWA is making strides to limit language that would harm our members.
