DirecTV Call Centers: Going to the Bargaining Table

Exciting news! DIRECTV customer care call center workers are heading to the bargaining table as a result of a pre-bargaining agreement CWA reached with AT&T today. The successful agreement puts an end to the delays and gives DIRECTV workers greater leverage within AT&T.

The agreement allows customer care workers to join with 40,000 AT&T Mobility workers nationwide in three regional contracts, pending a ratification vote by DIRECTV CWA members. Joining with the larger bargaining units gives DIRECTV workers more power in numbers than a stand-alone contract.

Getting AT&T to the table is a major step forward. Now we have to secure the best possible terms at the table.

Our CWA DIRECTV call center bargaining committee will sit at the table with the AT&T bargaining committee. Our committee will work to reach a tentative agreement to improve job security, wages, benefits and working conditions.

That tentative agreement will then go to back to you, the CWA members at DIRECTV customer care call centers, for a ratification vote.

Right now, we need to stand together to work for the best agreement we can get. Everyone can make a difference and help support our bargaining committee.

If you are not already a CWA member, please join today! Being a member guarantees you a vote on the tentative agreement once it is reached. Wear red on Thursdays (or Wednesday/ Friday if you are off Thursdays). And take part in any and all mobilizations at your center.

The official date for our first day of bargaining – likely in early December – will be announced soon. You canlearn more about collective bargaining here.
