Frontier VA-WV Bargaining 2023 Bargaining Report #1

The Frontier Bargaining Committee reported:

Bargaining opened Monday, June 5th between CWA and Frontier. Opening remarks were exchanged with each party stating their respective goals for a new contract for members in West Virginia and Ashburn, Virginia.

The Union reminded the Company, despite challenges, and changes over the past few years, not limited to a global pandemic, bankruptcy, and Company leadership changes, CWA members have shown up, worked hard, and played an indispensable role in delivering quality service. We remain invested in the Company and our communities.

Our members participated in the bargaining survey in record numbers and set clear priorities for negotiations. Our priorities are job security, securing bargaining unit work, safety, quality affordable healthcare, and compensation that recognizes the value our members bring.

The parties had extensive off-record discussions in which Union Committee representatives expressed concern regarding contractors, management practices, efficiencies, and the perceived lack of respect shown by some in management for the membership and the collective bargaining agreement.

The Company presented its proposal on Work-at-Home. The Union asked initial questions at the bargaining table and is in the process of reviewing in more detail.

Further bargaining is scheduled next week, June 13th through June 16th.

Members play a crucial role in achieving a fair contract.
