Unity@Mobility Trainers Meeting
On October 18, 2018 the CWA District 2-13 Unity@Mobility (U@M) Training Team members met in Columbia, MD to share their experiences with Phase III of the Unity@Mobility project. The first two phases of the U@M project focused on providing basic education about unionism, including the rights and responsibilities of union members. Those two phases were received with overwhelming support and acclaim by our members working at AT&T Mobility. The success of this program is, in large part, credited with CWA’s success at the Orange contract bargaining table last year.
Over the past year the U@M project, now in Phase III, has focused on providing a consistent union presence in the retail stores, continuing education on a one-on-one basis, and supporting and encouraging Mobility members to become active in their Local Unions, including running for stewards and other leadership positions. Several of the U@M Trainers have themselves become officers and stewards in their Locals.
