CWA Members Ready for Bargaining with Frontier Communications
Charleston, WVA – Contract negotiations get underway today between the Communications Workers of America and Frontier Communications covering 1,600 CWA telecommunications workers in West Virginia and Ashburn, Va. The current contract expires Aug. 5.
Across Frontier territory in West Virginia and Virginia, CWA members are mobilizing at worksites and letting Frontier know: “we’re standing together for a fair contract.”
CWA anticipates a successful round of bargaining. Union representatives are ready and willing to negotiate a contract that fairly reflects the hard work of its members and their dedication to the customers they serve.
CWA District 2-13 Vice President Ed Mooney said, “It’s essential that Frontier Communications acknowledge the critical role that CWA members play in providing customers with the quality service they expect and deserve. That means negotiating a fair contract that maintains good jobs in our communities.”
CWA members at Frontier elected their bargaining committee and set bargaining goals earlier this year. Committee members are President Ken William, Local 2001; President Rick McKinney, Local 2007; President Shannon Fink, Local 2009, and CWA staff Linda Miller, Elaine Harris, and Letha Perry, chair of the committee.
“Frontier workers serve our customers on a daily basis and are the backbone and the face of this company. We all want to be treated with dignity and respect in the work place. That’s what these negotiations are all about,” said Fink.
